A medical History of Fear and Foreboding

A construction of images that both critically and playfully explore anxieties, nostalgia and psychoanalytical theory.

Here, memories of formative experiences and encounters with imagery and symbolism surface from research into digital collages, from two books poured over in childhood - The Macmillan Guide to Family Health and Ladybird’s Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

The foetus is presented as a metaphor for incubation, and Goldilocks is representative of the cautionary tale, to explore how fear and foreboding play a role in shaping behaviour both as child and parent.
